I've introduced this drama to some of my friends who are not Korean-oriented and yet they still loved it. The scenes and scenarios are not overly exaggerated as I'm used to seeing in Korean Dramas, and is more down to earth. Gong Ah Jung, the female main character, was not a useless girl that depends on a guy. Throughout the whole drama she was a strong character that prided herself on accomplishments from her own efforts (it made me respect the character). The male lead, Hyun Ki Joon, was as described: handsome, well-mannered, rich, responsible, and cultured. Though he was strict, demanding, liked to boss people around, he has a heart mode out of cotton. Well not that soft, but he was a romantic man and could melt any woman's heart in a blink. Over all I enjoyed watching this drama a little too much. It made me cry, laugh (more like rofl), smile, sigh, and clench my fists. This is a must-see drama, and I'd recommend it to anyone at any given second!
I'd also like to mention to of the songs from the OST that impressed me.
The first one is As One & EZ-Life's "Lovin Ice Cream," the second is MBLAQ's "I Belong to You."
For those who have seen the drama, this song expressed the feelings of a past lover for the main character. Each time the song came up, I was moved to tears for this couple. The song naturally conveys to the listener that this song has a strong sense of regret, and bitterness. As the song progresses the vocals show the strong feelings this person is going through. Overall this song really is extraordinary in the sense of expressing the emotions.
8. Super Junior & SNSD - Seoul
S.M. Entertainment overdid themselves with this song. The theme is simple: "Love your city, Seoul." It is such a peaceful and adorable song. After listening to this song, it makes me want to visit the many wonders that are awaiting to be discovered in this city. Consider this melody a warm welcome from South Koreans into the heart of their country: Seoul.
Cube Entertainment and DSP Media have confirmed that Goo Hara (21) and Junhyung (23) are in a relationship.
Okay, so I got a shock just moments ago when I went on allkpop and read about, Junhyung and Hara dating. I'm actually really happy for those two. It takes a lot of bravery or a lot of love to come out like that, in an industry where the love of the fans makes you or kills you.
For our purposes we will call the new couple JunHara !!!
Okay, so at first I wasn't very interested in the new drama "City Hunter" even though Lee Minho is in it, but since it is Minho, I decided to give it a try.
Was it worth it?
HECK YEAH!
From the beginning of the first episode I already felt the rush from all the action happening. Lee Minho does the stunts and, wow, he really surprised me his awesome butt-kicking skills(apart from his good looks, but that shouldn't be important here, right?).
The drama starts off insanely good and as the first episode goes by the adrenaline rush doesn't disappear! The whole cast of the drama portrays their roles to a perfect "T" and make you intrigued at the development of their characters as the drama will progress. Not only is the cast fantastic, but the soundtrack is seriously EPIC. The soundtrack reminds me of IRIS so much and fits the tone and mood of the drama.
The drama has started off on the right foot and leaves anticipation for the rest of the episodes. If you still haven't started watching it and are interested, don't hesitate! There really was no trailer so here is a little preview i found:
credit to yume816 This song is very different to what people usually expect for T-ara and Supernova. The lyrics express the points of view of both a man and a woman who still have hope of meeting each other again and being together once more, after their relationship has ended. I really love hearing T-ara actually sing ... My point is that most of their songs have words that are not words but just sounds, and minimal sentences. This song on the other hand has great lyrics and the chorus is actually singable. The mix between the female and male voices reminds me of Co-Ed (which is awesome), and I also like that Soyeon gets to be the main singer for this song, since she has awesome vocals.
6. Taeyang - Wedding Dress In this MV Taeyang is a man that lives a one sided love for a woman. Its just so heartbreaking. At first the MV shows Taeyang going to church all dressed up, and he meets the bride, and you think oh hes getting married .... but suprise. He really isnt getting married, the woman he loves is marrying someone else. Then the MV goes back on their history, showing that the girl was always part of his life, while the man that becomes her husband, would always appear between Teayang and her. What is really sad is that he even plays the piano at her weeding :( I speially like the chorus, which is very powerful, probably due to the powerful dance moves. I also like the way the melody blends extremely well with the piano. So, the main point is that the song is really good but really sad.
Now that I have gotten the disappointment of Miss A's comeback being pushed back out of my system. I can finally enjoy the hottest boys in Kpop, and their comeback !!! 2PM will be back with their second full album which is called "Hands Up" on the 20th of June.
Junsu, Taecyeon, Chansung
The teaser photos have already been released and we can see the boys in flashy clothing and riding a limousine, living the good life. What I really liked about the pictures is that even though they all have a common theme, each member gave it his own feel.
JYP had "SAY A" fans pumped up with the announcement that "Miss A" would make a comeback in May, but then they decided to postpone it. Fans where okay with it, since it just meant more preparations and a stupendous first album (which of course I need to buy), as hinted by the single they released in May, called "Love Alone." So, everything was fine, although we where loosing patience with JYP, until TODAY.
Okay I really like 2PM but why are they having a comeback before Miss A ??? This means that fans of Miss A will have to wait over a month to see their girls on stage, if not more. As said before 2PM's comeback would be really exciting for me if they hadn't pushed back Miss A's comeback, it is almost impossible to see JYP take a stupid decision and face of Miss A and 2PM, so the girls must wait.
2AM are undeniably one of the best vocal groups in Korea, since all the members have above average voices, specially Changmin. This song is no exception, although it may not be considered a true ballad due to the music, it contains a lot a emotions. The story of the MV compliments the song and we can see another dimension to the lyrics. My cousin who has never even heard about kpop loved the song when I showed it to her. A great song to listen to when you feel betrayed or emotional.
4. Baek Ji Young - That Man(Secret Garden OST)
This song describes the whole relationship between the lead characters in the epic drama "Secret Garden", which are the feelings a woman has for a man who denies their love. The song is really beautiful, specially the lyrics, and Baek Ji Young's voice (the TRUE queen of OST's). Even if you have never read the lyrics you can get the feeling of longing and sadness from the song. This song is Beautiful. For a different perspective there is another song called "That Women" that belongs to the same singer and OST, which has the same rythim, arrangements, and chorus, but a couple of changes in the lyrics, to show the toughs of the man in the drama.
This "global" event is usually held in Monaco, and has also been in England and obviously in the United States, they are currently discussing hosting it in South Korea. Even though this committee is not foreigner friendly, this event could be one of the leading steps to bring westerners to notice the talent that is confined in Asia.
The stages built in South Korea not only for music videos, but also for "live" shows are outstanding. One of my all-time favorite is Big Bang's Las Vegas (thanks to SBS for their amazing staging through인기가요 (Inkigayo)!)
Therefore I really anticipate for this to be official and hopefully see our Kpop artists shine!
When I first heard this song some months ago I was completely mesmerized. I fell in love with a song, not just liked it or enjoyed it, but loved it. The four boys are exceptional singers and each of them has his own style. I was already a fan of both Jonghyun (SHINee) and Kyuhyun (Super Junior), but I was pleasantly surprised by Jay (TRAX) and the newcomer Jino. Their voices fit perfectly with each others, sweet and powerful at the same time. My favorite part is the extremely high notes on Jonghyun's part, since his voice seems really controlled compared to other songs he has sung with SHINee. The song itself is a beauty from the lyrics to the music, and the arrangement, not undermining the gorgeous voices. The lyrics talk a bout a man who has finally found his place next to the women he loves, and the passion he feels for her. Hot Times.
2. SNSD - Let it Rain
This song is not actually a kpop song since its in Japanese and was created for the Jpop market, but I will count it as a Kpop song because it belongs to SNSD, the kpop icon. Kpop and SNSD mean the same thing.
Let it rain is a new song released a coupe of days ago. I was excited for SNSD's new Cd, although I'm not a die hard fan of the girls. This was becouse the teasers for the CD was extremely intriging and different. The clips to the the new songs where also beautiful. As for the actual songs, "Let it Rain" stood out to me the first time I heard it. I t is beautiful in many ways, from the music to the lyrics. This song will probably become a resident of my top rated list on my Ipod. When I hear this song I get a feeling of loss but also of a new beginning, as if , even if you fall down, you can get back up. Inspirational.
