A taste of Sulli's Acting

While we wait for the release of "To The Beautiful You" in August, I'll leave you guys with Sulli's cuts from "Punch Lady" a movie she filmed in 2007 at the age of 13. In my opinion she's pretty decent :)

Review: Electric Shock : Smitten with f(x)

f(x) finally surprised me with "Electric Shock" (the album). Although I have always liked the group I had never had the heart to actually love it. Something, usually the music, was pushing me away. To me their music used to sound a little too messy for my liking. It seemed like f(x) was trying to represent youth but usually came up as childish. I kept wishing someone would come in and help them polish their act and they finally seem to be getting there with this new mini.

The title track "Electric Shock" is not as catchy as some of their previous singles, but there was something less messy about it. It seemed to have become a more polished version of "Nu ABO". Although "Chu~♡" remains as my favorite f(x) tittle track, I really like "Electric Shock" specially those slower moments when their voices truly shine and build up for the real action. The MV is average, the set is pretty and the solo shots are nice. The dance has a lot of cool parts in it but I specially like the beginning where Krystal grabs Amber and Sulli, as well as when they couple up.



I'm usually fond of f(x)'s tittle tracks so I was expecting to like "Electric Shock" but what I was not expecting was to like the majority of the songs on the album. Before "Electric Shock" only a few of their non-tittle songs where on my i-pod. Now I'm practically in love with three of the songs on the album.

The first song is "Beautiful Stranger", is a collaboration between Krystal, Amber,and Luna, with a very pop-ish feel to it. Their voices compliment well together making the song a great listen.



Next comes "Love Hate", a song that speaks about the idea of not knowing if what you feel is love or hate, similarly themed to SHINee's "Up and Down".  I tried to explain the feeling it gave to me to a friend and she did not get what I mean, so I will try again : "the song seems like their yodeling...." yeah ... I really like that it's young and fresh but not childish.



The last spot goes to "Let's Try", a slower song with an upbeat and catchy chorus, and a lot of actual singing from the members. This is a perfect time to point out that we get to hear a lot of Amber on this album, most of which is actual singing (thank you SM). Amber has a really nice voice that contrast with that of the other members, making songs much more interesting. This is why I constantly hope for Minho to have longer parts in SHINee songs, there are so many possibilities.



I really like the dynamic of f(x) although it sometimes seems that SM placed very different people together, not giving the group a sort of coherence most of the other SM groups posses. Further magnified by the lack of recognition f(x) has as a group and not only as individual entertainers. On the other hand one thing SM has done right with f(x) since the beginning is defining their music style. Although there are many areas where the need for  improvement is clearly visible, f(x) has kept their style while progressing and polishing it, clearly evident in this album.

Most of the album seems to be an upgrade of their previous work, keeping their style but showing growth. There is still room for improvement but f(x) is getting there. 

CHALLENGE3: DAY 8: Your Bias is f(x)

KRYSTAL

Krystal grew on me to be honest.

Maybe it is because she gets a lot of hate, specially regarding her attitude which I see absolutely nothing wrong with. In my pinion I believe she is somewhat Americanized and people take it as being disrespectful, but I think all the hate is very undeserved. Plus Korean netizens try to blow every little incident up.

Kystal's voice is a very defining factor for people, they either hate it or love it, there is no in between, Personally I think it's pretty good and she's responsible for carrying on most of f(x)'s songs, while Luna the main vocalist does the flashy parts. The other three members aren't as good singers in off to carry the load she is responsible for. Dancing wise, she is also good so no complains there.

Plus, after watching Krystal in Kim Yuna's Ice Show and cuts from High Kick, I'm even more convinced that she's the type of person who happens to be good at everything ^.^

Top 20: Girl Group Songs

Personally I listen to a lot of girl groups, although I do follow guy groups much more. When I saw a list on a blog I was reading I decided to make my own list of top 20 girl group songs. I hope that trough this list the people who only listen to guy groups can find a group or at least a song they really like, and give girl groups a chance.

P.S.This time around I purposely omitted collaborations, solo singers, songs in Japanese, songs in English, and duets, although there are many I like.

CHALLENGE2: DAY 10: A k-pop dance you’d like to learn

My top three favorite groups are known for their dance routines.

SHINee for the hard choreography. 

Miss A for the powerful choreography. 

Infinite for the synchronized choreography.

I just love dancing, and it's one of the main attractions in k-pop for me.

This time around I'll pick the choreography for Infinite's  "Be Mine"

Oh  ....  and this is kind of random ... but  f(x) Nu ABO ^^

SM Orchestra: The Sound of Hallyu Wave

Like I've mentioned before I've been gone and trying to catch up with the K-pop world (today I went trough 30 pages in allkpop :0).

Anyway I missed the year end shows and have watched just a few performances (since i was more interested int he WGM special :P).

Although, I haven't watched much I was very impressed by SMTown's performance at the KBS Gayo Daejun, and would like to share it with you guys, although all of you have probably already seen it.



Henry: I Love You <3 I'm glad he was allowed to perform in Korea for a change.
Jungmo: He is always so Hot when performing !!!
Changmin and Taeyeon : WoW epic voices.
Victoria: This is the sort of dance she was made for, she looks so graceful.
Siwon: Love this drummer.
Seohyun: She looks so graceful on the piano.
Eunhyuk, Taemin, KAI: Great Dance number ^^

Christmas Potpourri

Happy Holidays everyone!! I wanted to greet you guys this holiday so I found some things that might entertain you for a while. There were so many things I wanted to post that I just decided to put it all in one post to save time. I guess you could call it an SM special.

Looking around I found someone that put the Exo Teaser 1 Chinese Version online on Youtube.



It basically looks the same but the song has been changed into Chinese, and from what I've been reading, really heavily accented Chinese. Seems like they need to practice it more!

MBC's "Music Core X-Mas Special" was on last night and it seems like Super Junior had a lot of fun because they appeared in Donghae's and Eunhyuk's "Oppa has Arrived" performance. Very nice touch by the way, really cute, which is why I thought I should share it for those who have not watched it yet.



On Youtube SM uploaded a video of Amber and Henry giving their holiday greetings and it was quite nice. Amber and Henry's voices are so nice, and it makes me wish that they would give Amber actual singing parts instead of just raps.

I am an avid Running Man fan and have been waiting for SHINee to be on the show since forever.
Now, I finally get to see Minho on it !!!

It seems like the episode will be aired on the first of January !!!

I'm also excited that Siwon (Super Junior) and Sohee (Wonder Girls) will also be part of the show !!!

This song sounded childish to me at first becouse of the Mr. Boogie chorus, but it's actually pretty catchy and I Love it. The lyrics are also pretty cool. Credit for subs goes to THEKPOPGIRL1 @ YT.

My favorite video for f(x) is Chu~♡ and I even have it saved on my computer. I love how the girls (Sulli and Krystal) actually look their age, and how the choreography is so playful.  Do it do it Chu ! It's true true true it's you! I also love the concept of innocence, and the frog on the floor ^^

FAVORITE: LIVE

This performance is my favorite because of the intro which is really fierce, and because the crowd sounds so hyped even thou it is the girls debut stage. & Victoria looks awesome doing that cartwheel !

Super Junior Super Funny: Oops!

I finally gave myself the time to listen and read the lyrics for Super Junior's and F(x)'s collaboration "Oops !", and I had to share it with all our readers !!!

The lyrics of this song are so ridiculous and make me lough non stop!!! Specially the final rap by Heechul where he talks about clingy girls and glamorous girls, and Shindong goes "Hyung but You're really not Joking!" For all of those who are familiar with SuJu you will find allusions to Siwon, Donghae, Heechul's military duty, and Eunhyuks relation to monkeys, ^^ Let's not forget their constant mention of Pinochio and Mr.Simple  !!!

Simon and Martina meet f(x) and Super Junior !!!

Simon and Martina are well known names to the kpop fandom oversees. They are a young married Canadian couple, that live in Korea. They also have a weekly show on You Tube called Kpop Music Mondays (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ^^). Okay, so Simon and Martina , participated in Star King some weeks ago and have just recently released two videos with Super Junior and f(x) on the show. I found this really fun, and cute so here it is.

Super Junior

The finally awaited Super Junior stage performance that included "Sorry Sorry" hit, was broadcast today (110101 Korea Time). The remix of their hit is worth listening to, I hope to get my hands on it. This time around, I had no complaints about what they wore to perform, unlike last time when Siwon wore his bathrobe. It had caught my attention, but was made newly aware by the comment on the youtube video.

Also, did anyone else catch Eunhyuk's slip?

Dance Solo?

The group had apparently revised the dance to Bonamana, and it was done smoothly, but it seems that Eunhyuk, probably out of instinct, decided to dance the solo on his own!

Khuntoria

How about the Khuntoria performance? I bet the fans (http://khuntoria.blogspot.com/) dedicated to this couple were extremely delighted to see them on stage together as a couple! It was a most touching scenario, it was lovely beyond words. Love is in the air, oh the romance! Don't they look amazing together? By the way, does anyone know the song they played during the first part?

We look forward to seeing more from this couple, and we wish them lots of happiness.
